NanoTek, Inc. was founded by Dr. Jim Dong in April 1998 in Tucson, AZ. He has served as the president since. NanoTek’s R&D and business focus have been on miniature analytical instruments and environmental technologies. The smell sensor, or the fast and sensitive gas chromatography is its long term R&D objective. The proposed instrument will detect body scent, hidden drugs and explosives. It is anticipated to be integratable with PC and robotics. It will find use in defense industry, medical diagnosis and law enforcement.

NanoTek, Inc. used to occupy 2000 square foot of business space in Ajo Business Park in Tucson, AZ. It has conducted its R&D and production for several years there. In May, 2005, NanoTek, Inc. lost access to the facility to a State of Arizona law suit. It has also lost all its equipment to robbery in the same facility, lost equipment includes: computers and softwares; fume hoods; GC-FID; CNC digital milling machine; machine shop equipment capable of cutting, grinding, polishing, lathing, drilling and milling and associated office furniture.

NanoTek’s current product is the filament chromatography column. It has a standard diameter of 1/8" and length of 6'.  It fits all GC and other chromatography applications. It is expected to be faster and more efficient, and it has a higher capacity compared to commercial capillary columns.
